Actor Wil Wheaton, who earned fame on ’80s TV series, Star Trek: The Next Generation and more recent fame on Big Bang Theory, was cleaning out his garage last week and found a few items that he thought might pull in $100 that he could donate to his favorite charity, the Pasadena Humane Society. Well, he’s completely floored by what is happening with this
auction.
The first thing he found was a DVD of Stand By Me, the 1986 Rob Reiner movie in which he starred. He posted this DVD on ebay, stating that he would autograph the box to the winner and donate all the money to the charity. He started the auction at $20, hoping that it would go up to $100.
Within days, the price shot up over $500. He was shocked, and pleased. But that’s not the end of the story.
An avid Tweeter, Wheaton had also shared that he had found a dented ping pong ball while cleaning out the garage. Just to be funny, he posted a picture of it. Ha ha.
Well, when the DVD started climbing in price, a fan suggested he auction the ping pong ball. That’s pretty funny, Wheaton thought, and he made another auction for the ball.
With two days left to the auction, the ball is currently going for over $1,100.
