This new film takes you through Young’s childhood in Canada which is interesting. Also look for scenes from his solo tour which made a stop at Fox Theater. My favorite part was learning about Neil’s father who had an elementary school named after him (!!). My only wish is that they focused more on this. There are so many interesting facets to Neil Young besides just performance.
Dave-FM listener George James and super Neil fan saw the film and here’s what he thought:
I totally enjoyed “Journeys”; however, if you are not familiar with “Le Noise” It could be somewhat tedious. But we do get a look at the famous Massey Hall. I became a Neil Young fan in 1970 when I first heard (and agreed) “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere”. Long time fans may enjoy the movie more than others, because they would know a little more about Neil as a person, his politics, charities, etc. If one wants classic Neil Young, check out “Live At Massey Hall 1971″, good stuff.
Journeys is playing at the Landmark Midtown Theater.
