[pullquote quote="The first note you're gonna hear is a giant hit, and the last note you're gonna hear is a giant hit." credit="Mark McGrath"]If you came of age in the 90′s, here’s a chance to go back to your “Wonder Years” — get tickets for The Summerland Tour, coming to Atlanta’s Chastain Amphitheatre July 13th. Everclear, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Lit and Marcy Playground will be performing abbreviated sets of only the hits.
Yes, we said ONLY THE HITS. The Steve Show talked with Art Alexakis from Everclear and Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray, and they couldn’t have been more excited about about the tour, one that they hope will become an annual event.
[photogallerylink id=93492 align=right]“The idea,” Mark said, “is to get some of the biggest multi-platinum selling bands of the 90s, with some of the most iconic songs of the 90s, together for one, giant party under the summer stars.”
There’s no need to worry about the band going into some updated rendition of “In a Gadda da Vida,” for 20 minutes, he promised. “The first note you’re gonna hear is a giant hit, and the last note you’re gonna hear is a giant hit. The hits are the heart and soul of this tour.” He said there’ll be little time to take a bathroom break, lest you want to chance missing your favorite song.
[photogallerylink id=93522 align=right]Art went on to explain how this is an event to bring your friends and even your kids. “At a time when a lotta people who have families now, a lotta people who are working, are gonna go back to have fun. Short sets by everybody, hits by everybody. The energy on stage is gonna blow you away.”
Listen to this interview by Steve Craig, where Mark and Art talk more about the show, as well as new music on the horizon from the bands.
