Experimental alternative-rock musician, Beck, hasn’t put a new record since 2008′s Modern Guilt, but he’s kept his fans happy with a diverse collection of singles over the years. The latest fare includes “Looking For A Sign,” a mellow country-tinged tune.

The song is a featured in the Jay and Mark Duplass directed film, Jeff Who Lives At Home which stars Jason Segal and Ed Helms.

Ed Helms talked to Marshall Fine about this role in the film.

Mark and Jay wrote a wonderful script and if we’d done it, word for word, it would have been a fantastic movie. But that’s not how they operate. They put their faith in the cast to internalize the scene and make it their own.

“So you have these mundane moments with damaged, arguably dull characters. Yet even the smallest moments were exciting if we felt like we got it right. It’s different from trying to get a laugh. There’s something beautiful in the smallness of it. Once you put the microscope on the little universe of this family, it keeps exploding, like fractals. It’s sort of intense and beautiful.”

Beck will also be contributing to a Philip Glass remix album.
