10 Versions of “Time of the Season”

dave fm has been playing Dave Matthews Band‘s cover of the Zombies‘ “Time of the Season.” Other versions of the song have been suggested. So, we decided to compare 10 versions of the song.

Starting with the Zombies‘ original, this song was written by the band’s keyboard player, Rod Argent, (also of Argent) and recorded at Abbey Road Studios in 1967. It’s often used in movies or TV shows to represent the 60s, in general.

2. Dave Matthews Band – 2005

Included occasionally on their 2005 tour, the song was released on the CD/DVD Weekend on the Rocks. Also a part of Vol. 9 of the band’s Live Trax series.

3. Ben Taylor – 2003

The son of James Taylor and Carly Simon recorded this for his album, Famous Among the Barns. In 2008, it was featured on the soundtrack and the opening sequence of the horror film, Prom Night.

4. Snowden

Featured in an episode of CSI Miami.

5. Brent Bourgeois – 1990

From Brent Bourgeois’s Solo Album Brent Bourgeois.

6. Freedom- 1969

7. Colin Blunstone

Blunstone was the lead singer of the Zombies. This version during “Popgala” in March 1973. A two-day rock concert with several artists in ‘De Vliegermolen’, Voorburg, The Netherlands.

8. Samuel Hui – 1971

Sam Hui is a Hong Kong Cantopop singer, lyricist and film actor.

9. The Hair

Not sure how to respond to this version.
