I can’t help but hope that R.E.M. gets back together one day.

Legend has it that in 1980, members of R.E.M. met at the University of Georgia in Athens on Michael Stipe’s birthday.  Twenty years later, the band released their 15th studio album, “Collapse into Now”– and unfortunately, their last.

One of my favorite R.E.M. songs was written about the “Dan Rather” incident.  The newscaster was attacked on a New York street, all the while being asked, “What’s the Frequency, Kenneth?”  Rather would later make light of the issue and actually sing the famous song onstage with R.E.M.
