“Wait, what?” That was the uttering backstage at the GRAMMY Pre-Party when Marcus Mumford announced they were about to play a brand new song… one that nobody had ever heard before. We knew the night was going to be special, but we definitely weren’t expecting that.
“We haven’t really played it in public before, so if we f*ck up… have a go.” Mumford chuckled to himself, then treated the audience in the intimate Clive Davis Theater to a special acoustic performance of the still-untitled new song.
“Untitled”
The new song, which Mumford informed the crowd was written in Nashville, has already generated some great buzz around the music community:
“Right before it starts to feel a little too slow, Mumford & Sons finally deliver the swelling crescendo they’ve come to be known for” — Consequence Of Sound
“This song is a heart-grabber [...] It’s well worth the watch” — Antiquiet
“Once again, a beautiful song. Mumford & Sons never disappoints” — Margaret Weeks (comment from COS)
