theblackkeys2010 Last.fm Trends: The Black Keys And Their Four Grammy Nominations

Ohio’s very own The Black Keys are the proud holders of no less than four nominations at this year’s Grammy Awards.

Last.fm Trends take a look at the blues-rock duo to see what the chances are of turning their four nominations into awards.

The band is nominated for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals, Best Rock Instrumental Performance, Best Rock Song and Best Alternative Music Album.

With nominations of this caliber, The Black Keys have some stiff competition in the way of them walking away with any awards. They go up against a number of rock’s biggest names across all of the categories, including Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, Neil Young and Muse, just to name a few.

The band’s 2010 album Brothers counts 5,864,950 scrobbles so far, which took it to #28 in the Last.fm Best of 2010. With 936,269 scrobbles it is the track “Tighten Up” that is its most popular and unsurprisingly it is this which represents the band in the Best Rock Song category.

Although not appearing to be a front runner in any of the categories they are nominated in (their total scrobble count of 25,558,730 is beaten by at least two fellow nominees in most categories) we tip the band to take home the award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance for the track “Black Mud” where the band’s true psychedelic tendencies shine through.

Find out how The Black Keys do at The Grammy Awards by tuning into CBS on February 13. Make sure to check back with Last.fm Trends until then as we continue our build up to the awards.
