On December 30th, XTC begins a new life; a Baby Boss is born, and a Meat Puppet is in trouble with the Post Office

In 1986, Karen Woodward of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Bananarama[/lastfm] gives birth to a baby boy.

In 1967, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Beatles[/lastfm]’ “Hello, Goodbye” is at the top of the charts.

In 1970, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Paul McCartney[/lastfm] sues the other members of the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Beatles[/lastfm] to dissolve their partnership; it would take 4 years to the day to become official.

In 2005, rapper [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]DMX[/lastfm] was freed from Rikers Island after serving a month of a 70-day sentence for a parole violation. He received time off for good behavior and time served.

In 2004, Tanzanian singer [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Hukwe Zawose[/lastfm] died at the age of 65.  Zawose, who recorded with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Peter Gabriel[/lastfm], was a national treasure, thanks to his five-octave voice.

In 1999, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]George Harrison[/lastfm] and his wife were attacked in their home during a robbery. Though Harrison was stabbed in the chest four times, he and his wife were able to subdue the assailant until police arrived.

In 1993, Kirk Pengilly of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]INXS[/lastfm] weds singer Deni Hines; the marriage would only last 17 months.

In 2003, ex-[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Meat Puppet[/lastfm] Curt Kirkwood was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to do bodily harm. The bassist had just been released from a Phoenix hospital where he was recuperating after being shot in the stomach by a post office security guard. Kirkwood allegedly whacked the guard with his own baton during an argument over a parking spot.

In 2002, in Tucson, Arizona, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Diana Ross[/lastfm] was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

In 2004, bandleader [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Artie Shaw[/lastfm] died at the age of 94 in Thousand Oaks, California.

In 1991, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Bruce Springsteen[/lastfm] and wife [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Patti Scialfa[/lastfm], have a baby girl, Jessica Rae.

In 1992, Pollstar reports [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]U2[/lastfm]’s “Zoo TV” tour is the number one show of the year—and to date, the third grossing tour on the all-time list, at $67 million.

In 1973, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]XTC[/lastfm] make their live U.S. debut, in Philadelphia.
